In July of 2012, Ι wrote a short piece analyzing the algorithm Tesco (the near-monopoly on supermarket shopping in the UK) uses to produce barcodes for discounted items.
Hosting it on my three-day-old server set-up, I was expecting it to get a little attention, but not this much.
Well, at that point the game was pretty much up: Tesco’s security department got wind of it and understandably wasn’t best pleased, and kindly (well…) requested I remove my paper.
Sorry if you’ve arrived too late.
However, if you’re interested in further security news regarding Tesco, there’s much (at the time of writing) going on between them and Troy Hunt whose excellent analysis of some deeper problems at the company will satiate your desires, I’m sure.
